Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform and The Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
